Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner review:
The Epson Perfection V500 Photo features a fitted transparency unit for positive or negative film up to medium format. It scans twelve frames of 35mm filmstrip, four frames of mounted 35mm slides or one frame of 6×12cm medium format film now, ideal for preserving old family pictures. Four easy access buttons are located on the front of the scanner to begin scan to application, scan to PDF, scan to email and copy. They offer a fast and easy way to scan a picture without the have to access settings on the computer. The scan to PDF function lets a picture or many pages to be scanned and automatically saved to a particular PDF file, while the scan to email button lets papers or pictures to be copied and sent anyplace in the world at the touch of a button. Software provided with the Perfection V500 Photo will include the new Epson Scan 3.2 and Epson Creativity Suite. Epson Scan is intended to make scanning easy with its auto mode and home mode. The needs of the advanced user are addressed with the professional mode. Epson Scan 3.2 offers high compression multi page PDF scanning and lets ICC profiles to be implanted into the scanned files. Colour reproduction for negative scanning delivers superior image quality in important or mixed lighting conditions. It also offers an advanced backlight correction to enhance the in general visibility in the image. Digital ICE Technology assures dust and scratches are totally removed from colour films, creating high quality results.
Extra software will include Adobe PhotoShop Elements four PC and three Mac and ABBYY FineReader Sprint six Plus. An optional auto Document Feeder ADF is available for small offices that wish to use the Perfection V500 Photo for higher volumes of document scanning. The scanner’s Digital Ice technology removes dust particles and scratches from pictures, while the 48 bit color depth gives vibrant colors and crystal clear pictures. The scanner includes an energy efficient LED light, which removes warm up time while scanning faster at a lower power intake rate.
This 18.8 by 10.7 by 4.5 inch, 8.9 pound flatbed color image scanner has a maximum resolution of 12,800 by 12,800 dpi, and comes supported by a restricted 1 year manufacturer’s warranty.
